MARYJEAN OFFICER (also Mary Jean)

Secretary of the Folklore Society of Victoria and later vice president of the Folklore Council of Australia, Maryjean collected in the field and also worked extensively with Norm and Pat O’Connor. Her approach was comprehensive, collecting not only individual items of folklore but also details of family background, occupational skills and other contextual information.

A number of recordings made by her and of her in NLA under a Catalogue search on her name and through the Norm O’Connor Collection. Of particular interest is an interview with Edgar Waters at https://catalogue.nla.gov.au/Record/1545367
